Four Wheel Drive

I would like to start with me saying this….Although four wheel drive can give people a sense of security. Four wheel drive does not make the vehicle unstopable especially when it comes to ground clearance and a inebriated driver. So the story goes like this….
Gavin, Brian, and Laura come over to my placey tonight to hang out for a little bit. They kind of showed up unexpectatedly except for Gavin who called before coming over which was cool. After hanging out for an hour or so looking at some old pictures reminiscing of the good times, they talked me into driving around in the heavy snow. The plan was to go drink at Texas Road House and then drive around some more. The only thing was every resturant that served liquor was closed when we showed up. We couldn’t go to a bar because Katy wasn’t twenty one, so we went to Wal-Mart to grab a couple cases of MGD. On the way back to my place we passed 3 cars that ended up in the ditch, just to give you an idea of the road conditions. Upon coming to CR17 headed back to my place, I mentioned that there was a secluded road that we could venture upon that was just north of CR 6. If you look at the screen shot the road I am talking about is CR 104. My house is the red bubble with a black dot. Keep in mind that CR 104 between CR17 and CR19 is blocked off due the construction of the new RV Hall Of Fame, and this is exactly where we ended up getting Gavn’s Jeep Grand Cherokee stuck high center at the front axel. We got stuck North East of my house and just North the CR 104 Label right about where the RED dot is. Now this is after Gavin (The Driver) had about 5 or six beers which he chugged with in a 30 min time. He was pretty hammered but hey, it was his truck that he was driving, I didn’t really care if wanted to take it off roading. So all five of us then walked back to my house where we warmed up and assessed the situation. Gavin and I then drove to Market Motors and grabbed a couple tow straps, flashlight and shovel. We then drove back home to pick everyone back up in the truck I was driving, so that they could help push if we needed it. The truck I am driving is a 1994 Chevy 1500 Series 4×4 Extended Cab. The truck has a million miles on it but it still drives like a champ, oh yeah and did I mention the truck was not mine, but belonged to my boss. So I kicked it in four wheel drive around the road blocks and down CR 104. We found Gavin’s truck and started heading through the field with 3 people in the bed and 3 people in the cab including myself, bouncing around with every bump we hit. We get to his Jeep and find no place to fasten the tow straps too on the Jeep. After crawling around in the snow under his truck I figure that the only place to anchor the strap to is his spare tire inside the truck. So I looped the tow strap throuqh his spare and back the hitch on my truck. We then closed the hatch and prayed for the best. Gavin’s drunk ass jumped in his truck and I jumped in mine to tighten up the strap. With his truck in reverse and mine in drive we managed to pull his free. With the only damage being his rear hatch bending a tad bit where the tow strap came through we figured it was just a small price to pay to free his truck. He followed me out for the most part and back to CR 104, where he then decided the field would be a better route and did a few donuts to celebrate. All in all it was a fun night and will make some great memories.

You kind of left out the part about Gavin getting his Jeep stuck. And the part about your boss being your future father-in-law. See, I do check out your web site. :P

Got something to say? Go for it!
