Desktop Eye-candy

For a long time now I’ve been obsessed with my computer desktop and whether or not it helps me work efficiently. I find desktop eye-candy fascinating yet in the end it always seems to get in my way or distract me from doing serious work. Because I’m always worried that I’m not making the most of my desktop, I always like to ask people what their desktop looks like. In the spirit of my obsession, I thought it would be fun if everyone posted a screenshot of what their desktop looks like. Since the purpose of this idea is to see what everyone’s work environment looks like, it is only fair that you post a screenshot of your everyday desktop not one beefed to the max with eye-candy. Also, if you have an unusual setup or don’t check the site often, please include a description of what environment/programs you use.

Still working on getting my screenshots up, but in the meantime take a look at this guy’s desktop. Truly an impressive workspace. Scroll down the comments to see what displays he’s using.

Ok, I finally got a screenshot of my desktop up after switching over to 1600×1200 resolution last night. It is a shot of my Linux Desktop with Enlightenment 0.16.8 window manager running the 23oz glass theme.

Dan, thats a cool pic of Beuter park, was that this summer or last?

  6. Dan says:

That was just this summer – it’s an eight-second exposure I took a couple of weeks ago while Joy and I were out and about – I really like how the blue light turned out against the stones.

Interesting Article, I prefer for my windows desktop to put the icons into groups in different places on the desktop. Also, i have my middle-mouse button bound to minimize-all so the desktop is easily accessible when you need to launch a new program.

Decided to change my main background as well as change my default terminal font to be easier to read. Also, you can see the nice qemu-launcher program which has made my life in c435 a whole lot easier.

i hate having any icons on my desktop. i wish it were easier in XP to setup folder actions like in OS X so that nothing ever went on my desktop. keyboard shortcuts FTW.
