High Speed Motorcycle Crash

A motorcycle driven by 28 Year old Benjamin Snook crashed Saturday May 24th, 2008 just south of North Shore Drive on Cassopolis Street in Elkhart, Indiana. Ben was traveling at a high rate of speed when going around a bend and veered into oncoming traffic, striking a car at about 7:07pm that was heading south. Benjamin died from head injuries later that evening. You can read more about the news report here

News reports like these upset me, because although it wasn’t specifically stated. From the sounds of the injuries, he wasn’t wearing a helmet. How many more people will have to die because Indiana does not force riders of motorcycles to wear helmets?

Even if the State of Indiana makes it a requirement to wear helmets it still will not some of the deaths of these people.
Helmets are a choice just as seat belts are a choice even thought there is a law on seat belts.
Does the law stating you should not talk on a cell phone keep persons from not talking on cell phones while driving….I do not think so and even worst I see police officers doing it as well.
Helmets will not safe a motorcyclist life if a driver in a car is not pay attention or they state I did not see the motorcycle.
I believe everyone should be educated in Motorcycle Safety whether they are going to ride one or not….
With the gas prices the way they are going I believe you are going to see a lot more motorcycles out on the road.
Also, do we want the government telling us everything to do….is this not the United States of America. We should have the Freedom of Choice…
